Chimaek (치맥) is a combination dish of fried chicken ('치') and beer ('맥' from maekju). Daegu is the birthplace of ChiMaek in Korea. With 192 ChiMaek chains around the country, the influence which ChiMaek has had in Korea since its inception in the 1960's has risen to status quo. It's almost at theological levels. It comes as no surprise that the buzzard-and-beer dish gets a festival thrown in its honor.

The 2018 Daegu Chimaek Festival was the 6th installment of its kind. The organisers and contributors of the event festooned Duryu Park and Baseball Stadium with stalls, steins and stages. There was even a pool, although it was locked by the time we got to it. We really wanted a dip, but at the same time we're respectful foreigners. I mean, who breaks into a pool area when the gates are closed? Pssh, not us. But if we did get caught swimming in a closed facility, I bet the security guard would wear a "Grow up, guys" look on his face when (I mean if) he caught us. Nonetheless, Daegu ChiMac Festival is a good place to spend quality play-time.
The music lineup had a properly "flippity floppity stomp this property" vibe to it. Part Time Cooks, a Seoul-based hip hop-duo, was Saturday's opening main act. Part Time Cooks have some seriously good music and stage presence. They made me dance like I had just won the lottery (ie like an idiot). The other main act was Rhythm Power, a super-famous Korean hip-hop band. They made all the Koreans dance like they had won the lottery, too. Even though there was no money involved in the lottery-winning inspired dances, Part Time Cooks and Rhythm Power kept everyone ecstatically distracted of that fact for an hour or two.
Aaaaaand this...
One tip for your next chimaek experience: pop an antacid before bed - the heartburn is worse than the hangover.

These are some snaps taken through a Sony 55-210 Manual lens. Very amateurish stuff and still very unfamiliar with the lens itself. Had a lot of fun with it and a very straightforward lens!
